Honey toast is a Japanese dessert that began in the Shibuya district of Tokyo during the country economic bubble era. A loaf of pain de mie bread is hollowed out and filled with caramelized cubes of the bread own interior along with fruit, nuts and other sweet toppings, then finished with a scoop of ice cream. The dessert became especially popular in karaoke bars across Japan before spreading to Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore and other parts of Asia.
