Java plum, also called jambolan, black plum or jamun, is the fruit of Syzygium cumini, an evergreen tropical tree native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia that is favored for its fruit as well as its timber and ornamental value. It has since been introduced widely, including to Florida, and its fruit is also eaten by native birds and small mammals such as jackals, civets and fruit bats.
