Drunken noodles

Noodle and Dumpling Dishes

Drunken noodles is a Thai stir-fried noodle dish, similar to phat si-io but generally spicier, made with broad rice noodles, soy sauce, fish sauce, garlic, chili, holy basil and a meat or seafood of choice. Its Thai name, phat khi mao, combines the words for stir-frying and for a drunkard, though the dish itself contains no alcohol in its ingredients or preparation, unlike the separate dish drunken chicken. It is a popular menu item throughout Thailand and is widely served at Thai restaurants in the United States.
