Whisking, also called whipping, is the technique of using a whisk to blend ingredients until smooth or to incorporate air into a mixture. A whisk is a long-handled cooking utensil with a series of wire loops joined at one end, and the shape of the loops varies with the whisk's intended function; the wires are usually metal, though some are plastic for use with nonstick cookware, and whisks are also made from bamboo.
