Urap

Salads

Urap, also spelled oerap, krawu or urab, is an Indonesian salad of steamed or boiled vegetables mixed with seasoned, spiced grated coconut dressing. It is especially associated with Javanese cuisine and is eaten either as a standalone vegetarian dish or as a side dish, typically accompanying the cone-shaped rice dish tumpeng and nasi kuning. Common vegetables include spinach, water spinach, young cassava leaves, papaya leaves, long beans, bean sprouts and cabbage, with the coconut dressing seasoned by shallots, garlic, chili peppers, tamarind, galangal, salt and coconut sugar.
