Berbere is an Ethiopian spice mixture whose typical ingredients include chili peppers, coriander, garlic, ginger, Ethiopian holy basil seeds known as besobela, korarima, rue, ajwain or radhuni, nigella and fenugreek; the term can also refer to chili pepper on its own. It is a key ingredient in the cuisines of Ethiopia and Eritrea, and blends sometimes include lesser-known herbs and plants that grow wild in Ethiopian regions, such as korarima.
