It remains a popular meal or dessert in Austria, Bavaria and many parts of the former Austro-Hungarian empire, including northern Italy, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, northern Croatia and western Romania, which use the name as a loanword or its translation.
