Ema datshi

Stews, Braises and Sauced Dishes

Ema datshi is a spicy Bhutanese stew made from hot chili peppers and cheese, and is recognized as the national dish of Bhutan. It has its roots in Tibetan culinary traditions and has changed over time to suit Bhutanese tastes, typically combining green, red, or white chilies with datshi, a cheese made from cow or yak milk, along with spring onions, vegetable oil, and salt.
