Jiggs dinner

Jiggs dinner, also called boiled dinner or cooked dinner, is a traditional meal commonly prepared and eaten on Sundays in Newfoundland and other Atlantic Canadian provinces. Its name comes from Jiggs, the central character of the long-running comic strip Bringing Up Father by George McManus and Zeke Zekley, whose favourite meal was corned beef and cabbage.
