Country Captain is a curried chicken dish, often served with rice, that is popular in the Southern United States. It was introduced to the United States through port cities including Charleston, Savannah, New York City and Philadelphia, but its origins trace to Anglo Indian cuisine from the period of the British Raj in India. The dish was included in the United States military's Meal, Ready to Eat rations from 2000 to 2004, reportedly in honor of its being a favorite of General George S. Patton.
