Stews, Braises and Sauced Dishes

Ewa aganyin is a Yoruba dish of black eyed beans cooked until very soft and mashed, served with a stew like sauce of palm oil, chili peppers, onion, bell pepper, ginger, dried chilies and dried crayfish powder. It is popular as street food across Yorubaland and more widely in Nigeria, Togo and Benin, and in Nigeria it is especially eaten for breakfast, traditionally paired with Agege bread, a bread that originated in the Agege area of Lagos State.
