Bánh đậu xanh is a mung bean pastry in Vietnamese cuisine, a specialty of Hải Dương province made from mung bean, sugar and fat such as lard or vegetable oil. Comparable mung bean sweets exist elsewhere in Asia, including China's dry lüdou gao and moist, fermented lüdou huang, and Indonesia's ongol-ongol hunkwe, made from mung bean starch, coconut milk and palm sugar.
