Griddle

A griddle is a cooking device built around a broad, usually flat cooking surface, traditionally a brick or metal slab and, in modern kitchens, most often a flat metal plate. It can take the form of a portable pan or plate style utensil, a flat surface built into a stove as part of a kitchen range, or a compact standalone appliance with its own heating element built around an integrated cooking surface. Griddles are used across many cuisines for foods that benefit from direct, even contact heat, such as pancakes and flatbreads.
