Leavened Loaves and Historic Breads

Gathers bread as a food, from the general article on bread to individual loaves with a particular history or method. Bread is a baked food product made from water, flour and often yeast, and one of the oldest prepared foods known to humanity, the Herculaneum loaf is a stamped sourdough loaf baked in the town of Herculaneum shortly before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD and preserved by carbonisation, and rewena bread is a Maori sourdough bread from New Zealand leavened with a fermented potato starter rather than commercial yeast. A dish belongs here when its own cited article describes a bread or a loaf. It excludes the regional bread and pastry groups, which collect breads by place.
