Tumpeng is an Indonesian cone shaped rice dish served with side dishes of vegetables and meat, originating in Javanese cuisine and traditionally featured in the slametan ceremony, where the rice is shaped using a cone shaped woven bamboo mold. The rice, which may be plain steamed rice, coconut milk uduk rice, or turmeric colored yellow rice, is set on a round woven bamboo tray called a tampah, covered with banana leaf and surrounded by assorted Indonesian dishes such as urab vegetables in shredded coconut, fried chicken, fried tempeh, boiled marbled eggs, shredded omelette, salted anchovy and peanuts. Today it also appears at celebrations such as birthdays, and in 2014 Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy declared it the dish that binds the diversity of Indonesian culinary traditions.
