The vegetable is a domesticated form of the wild carrot, native to Europe and southwestern Asia, and probably originated in Iran, where it was first cultivated for its leaves and seeds rather than its root. In 2022, world production of carrots combined with turnips topped 42 million tonnes, with China producing 44 percent of the total.CarrotConnectionsIn the Other AtlasesSourcesComments (0)Reader Challenges (0)CarrotFilter Results12 entriesDish FamilyAllEast Asian Stews, Braises and Sauced Dishes (1)European Noodles and Dumplings (1)European Salads (2)European Soups (1)European Stews, Braises and Sauced Dishes (4)Latin American and Caribbean Soups (1)South Asian Rice and Grain Dishes (1)Sub-Saharan African Stews, Braises and Sauced Dishes (1)CuisineAllAfghan Cuisine (1)Ashkenazi Jewish Cuisine (1)British Cuisine (3)Irish Cuisine (1)Italian Cuisine (1)Japanese Cuisine (1)Polish Cuisine (1)Russian Cuisine (2)South African Cuisine (1)Ukrainian Cuisine (1)Era (Origin Period)All1300 (1)1521 (1)1600 (1)1700 (1)1836 (1)TraditionAllChristmas Feast Traditions (1)New Year Feast Traditions (1)Passover and Jewish Holiday Foods (1)Format/TypeAllEast Asian Stews, Braises and Sauced Dishes (1)European Noodles and Dumplings (1)European Salads (2)European Soups (1)European Stews, Braises and Sauced Dishes (4)Latin American and Caribbean Soups (1)South Asian Rice and Grain Dishes (1)Sub-Saharan African Stews, Braises and Sauced Dishes (1)CourseAllMain Course (1)Soup (3)Dietary SuitabilityAllContains Fish or Shellfish (1)Contains Meat or Poultry (3)Origin RegionAllAfghanistan (1)Africa (1)France (1)Ireland (1)Italy (1)Latin America (1)Russia (1)South Africa (1)Soviet Union (1)United Kingdom (3)Uzbekistan (1)Show ResultsBrowseCompareSelect all 12CawlCarrotDressed herringCarrotIrish StewCarrotKabuli PalawCarrotPotjiekosCarrotScotch BrothCarrotScouseCarrotSopa de mondongoCarrotSpaghetti bologneseCarrotStewCarrotTzimmesCarrotVinegretCarrotConnectionsUsed ByCawl, Dishes Well-attested Source Cawl - WikipediaDressed herring, Dishes Well-attested Source Dressed herring (Wikipedia)Irish Stew, Dishes Well-attested Source Irish stew (Wikipedia)tier 3Julienne, Culinary Techniques Well-attested Kabuli Palaw, Dishes Well-attested Potjiekos, Dishes Well-attested Source Potjiekos, WikipediaScotch Broth, Dishes Well-attested Source Wikipedia: Scotch brothScouse, Dishes Well-attested Source Scouse (food) (Wikipedia)Sopa de mondongo, Dishes Well-attested Source Sopa de mondongo (Wikipedia)Spaghetti bolognese, Dishes Well-attested Source Bolognese sauce (Wikipedia)Stew, Dishes Well-attested Source Stew (Wikipedia)Tajik Cuisine, Cuisines Well-attested Source Tajik Cuisine (Wikipedia)Tzimmes, Dishes Well-attested Source Tzimmes (Wikipedia)Vinegret, Dishes Well-attested Source Vinegret (Wikipedia)In the Other AtlasesOriginated InAsiaAlso in Geography Atlas: where this subject originated.EuropeAlso in Geography Atlas: where this subject originated.SourcesPotjiekos, WikipediaUsed By: Potjiekos, Infobox main_ingredient field: Meat, vegetables like cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, potatoes;
