Spaghetti

Cereal Grains, Pseudocereals and Pasta

Spaghetti is a long, thin, solid cylindrical pasta of Italian origin, traditionally made from durum wheat semolina and water and dried before being cooked in boiling water. It is one of the most widely eaten pasta shapes in the world, forming the base of dishes such as spaghetti with tomato sauce, spaghetti carbonara and spaghetti and meatballs, the last of which is an Italian American invention rarely found in Italy itself. The name derives from the Italian word spago, meaning thin string or twine, describing its characteristic shape.
