Ovos moles de Aveiro, literally soft eggs from Aveiro, are a pastry delicacy from the Aveiro district of Portugal made from egg yolks and sugar, sometimes with chocolate. The sweet mixture is piped into small spheroidal wafer capsules shaped like shells and other nautical forms. The confection received European Union Protected Geographical Indication status, designated in 2008.
