Şekerpare, meaning piece of sugar, is a common Turkish dessert made from a semolina cookie soaked in sugar syrup and topped with nuts. Beyond Turkey, it is also popular in Egypt and the Levant, where it is known by a name meaning lady's eyelashes in Arabic. It is especially popular during Ramadan.
