Mojito

The mojito is a Cuban highball cocktail traditionally made from white rum, fresh lime juice, sugar, mint leaves and soda water, served over crushed or cubed ice. It is closely associated with Havana and with Cuban rum culture more broadly, and its combination of muddled mint and lime gives it a distinctively refreshing character well suited to hot climates. The mojitos exact origins are debated, with claims tracing early versions to sixteenth century Cuba, but the drink in its familiar modern form became firmly established in twentieth century Havana bars before spreading internationally as one of the best known rum cocktails.
