Advantame is a non-caloric artificial sweetener developed by the Japanese company Ajinomoto as a chemical analog of aspartame. It is extremely potent, roughly twenty thousand times sweeter than table sugar by weight and about one hundred and ten times sweeter than aspartame itself, meaning only a tiny amount is needed to sweeten food. Compared with aspartame, advantame produces no notable off-tastes relative to sucrose, provides a longer-lasting sweetness, is more chemically stable, and can be blended with other natural and artificial sweeteners.
