Kale, also called leaf cabbage, belongs to a group of cabbage cultivars primarily grown for their edible leaves, though it is also used as an ornamental plant. Its many different cultivars vary considerably in appearance, with leaves that may be bumpy, curly or flat and colors ranging from purple to green.
