The lima bean, Phaseolus lunatus, also known as the butter bean, sieva bean, double bean or Madagascar bean, is a legume grown for its edible seeds. Lima beans and butter beans are the same species but are sometimes treated as culinarily distinct, the former small and green and the latter large and yellow; where both are considered lima beans, the green variety may be labeled baby or, less commonly, junior limas.
