Thyme is a culinary herb consisting of the dried aerial parts of certain species in the genus Thymus, part of the mint family, native to Mediterranean countries in North Africa, the Levant and Southern Europe, with culinary, medicinal and ornamental uses. The species most commonly cultivated and used for cooking is Thymus vulgaris, native to Southeast Europe.
