Crocodile is the meat harvested from farmed or wild crocodilians, most commonly the Nile crocodile and saltwater crocodile, eaten in parts of Africa, Australia and Southeast Asia. The meat is pale and lean, taken mainly from the tail, and is often described as having a mild flavor and firm texture positioned between chicken and fish. Commercial crocodile farming, which supplies both meat and leather, has grown substantially in Australia, South Africa and Zimbabwe since the late twentieth century.
