Ramazan pidesi

Breads, Flatbreads and Savory Pastries

Ramazan pidesi is a soft, round, flat leavened Turkish bread with a distinctive woven pattern pressed into its crust. It is made from wheat flour and baker's yeast, and is typically topped with sesame seeds, nigella seeds and an egg wash before baking. The bread has roots going back to the Ottoman Empire and is traditionally baked and eaten during Ramadan, at the meals that break and precede the daily fast.
