Bánh bao

Noodle and Dumpling Dishes

Bánh bao is a Vietnamese steamed bun based on the Cantonese da bao, or large bun, introduced to Vietnam by Chinese immigrants. It is a ball shaped bun typically filled with seasoned ground pork and quail egg, along with ingredients such as onions, mushrooms, and sometimes Chinese sausage, and a vegetarian version exists using mushrooms, tofu, glass noodles, and vegetables. It is a popular Vietnamese street food, commonly eaten as a breakfast item or snack.
