Coal-fired pizza is a pizza-baking style found in the United States, most associated with New York-style and New Haven-style pizza, both of which are often cooked in coal-fired ovens. A coal-fired oven can reach around nine hundred degrees Fahrenheit and bakes a pie in two to five minutes. Pizzerias with coal-fired ovens outside the northeastern United States are uncommon enough to be singled out in travel guides, and the styles growing popularity in the 2010s was noted as an important market for the anthracite coal suppliers of Pennsylvania Coal Region.
