Puri is a type of deep-fried flatbread made from an unleavened wheat dough. It originated in the northern Indian subcontinent, where it is one of the most common flatbreads and a staple food in parts of the region, resembles chapati but is deep-fried, and is related to other deep-fried breads from the region such as bhatura, luchi and kachori.
