Oyakodon, literally parent and child donburi, is a Japanese rice bowl dish in which chicken, egg, sliced scallion, and other ingredients are simmered together in a soy sauce and stock based broth and then served over a large bowl of rice. Its name reflects the fact that both chicken and egg, parent and offspring, are used in the same dish.
