Barbecue Sauce

Condiments, Sauces and Fermented Flavorings

Barbecue sauce, often abbreviated BBQ sauce, is a sauce used as a marinade, basting liquid or topping for meat cooked in the barbecue style, including pork, beef and chicken, and is a common condiment across the Southern United States and Australia, also used on many other foods. Most versions are built on a vinegar or tomato-paste base combined with onion powder, spices such as mustard and black pepper, and a sweetener such as sugar or molasses, though the exact recipe varies widely by region.
