Şambali

Rice, Grain and Starch Dishes

Şambali, also called Shambali or, in Istanbul, Şambaba, is a Turkish dessert whose name comes from Şam balı, or Damascus honey, reflecting its origin in Syria before it spread to İzmir. Made mainly from semolina, sugar and yogurt or milk, it is widely sold by street vendors in İzmir and is regarded as firmer and more intense than the similar semolina dessert revani.
