Frikandel

Roasted, Grilled and Fried Dishes

A frikandel is a traditional Dutch snack food, a kind of minced meat sausage whose modern form was developed after the Second World War, although related snacks in the region date back to the seventeenth century. It is made from mechanically separated meat, typically a mixture of chicken and pork, combined with breadcrumbs, thickener, herbs, spices, and onion, then deep fried rather than smoked or grilled like most sausages, giving it a cylindrical, chewy, skinless, and dark colored form that is eaten warm.
