Fried plantain

Fried plantain is a dish prepared wherever plantains are grown, including West and East Africa, Central America, northern South America, the Caribbean and parts of Southeast Asia and Oceania, and is known by many local names, such as pisang goreng in Indonesia and dodo among Yoruba speakers in Nigeria. Ghanaian kelewele is a spicy fried plantain variant commonly served alongside red red and fish stew, while Caribbean and Central American versions include Puerto Rican mofongo, made from fried pounded plantain with chicharron and spices, and the twice fried plantain slices called patacones or tostones.
