Birthday Cake

Salads, Dips, Sandwiches and Fermented Cold Dishes

A birthday cake is a cake eaten as part of birthday celebrations. There is no single standard for how a birthday cake looks, though they are typically highly decorated layer cakes covered in frosting, often bearing birthday wishes followed by the celebrant's name. In many cultures it is customary to serve the cake with small lit candles on top, especially for a child's birthday, and the cake often accompanies the singing of Happy Birthday to You. Variations on the birthday cake include cupcakes, cake pops, pastries and tarts.
