Buccellato

Breads, Flatbreads and Savory Pastries

Buccellato is a ring-shaped Sicilian cake filled with figs and nuts, along with candied fruit peel, and is a traditional Christmas delicacy in Sicily. Its ring form and use of candied fruit are shared with the separately named buccellato di Lucca, a distinct cake from the Tuscan city of Lucca, but Wikipedia's own account treats the two as different desserts despite the resemblance. Both are best described as ring-shaped sweet breads built around dried and candied fruit rather than as conventional layered cakes.
