Maccu

Maccu is a Sicilian soup with a dense, thick texture, made from dried and crushed fava beans and wild fennel as its primary ingredients. It also serves as a foodstuff and ingredient in its own right: dishes such as bruschetta al maccu and maccu di San Giuseppe use it as a base, with the latter traditionally served on Saint Joseph's Day in Sicily.
