Run down

Soups and Broths

Run down, also called rundown, run dun, rondon, fling me far or fling mi for, is a stew and soup dish of Jamaican and Tobagonian cuisine, eaten throughout the Caribbean and Latin America after Afro Jamaican workers carried it to Latin America in the early nineteenth century. It is made from reduced coconut milk with seafood such as mackerel, salted mackerel, cod or red snapper, along with plantain, yam, tomato, onion and seasonings, and is traditionally served with dumplings or baked breadfruit. It is common throughout the Antilles, Colombia, Honduras, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Venezuela, and is eaten in Jamaica both as a restaurant dish and a traditional breakfast.
