Arugula

Arugula, also called garden rocket, rocket salad or rucola, is an annual, cool-season leafy vegetable of the mustard family grown for its peppery-tasting leaves, native to a range stretching from the Mediterranean to the Arabian Peninsula and China. It has been cultivated as a vegetable in the Mediterranean since Roman times, when it was also considered an aphrodisiac, and today is especially popular in Italian cooking, eaten fresh in salads or folded into cooked dishes. Beyond the leaves, the plant's flowers, young seed pods and seeds are all edible, and arugula grows quickly enough, ready to harvest in four to six weeks, to suit repeated successive plantings.
