Malanga is one of several common names, alongside cocoyam, tannia, yautia and dasheen among others, for the starchy edible corms of plants in the genus Xanthosoma, a group of flowering plants in the arum family Araceae native to tropical America but widely cultivated in other tropical regions. The corms are an important food staple of tropical regions.
