Moringa

Moringa, Moringa oleifera, is a short-lived, fast-growing, drought-resistant tree native to northern India and also known as the drumstick tree, horseradish tree or ben tree. It is grown widely across South and Southeast Asia, with India the largest producer at roughly 1.2 million tonnes a year, and is also cultivated in Central America, the Caribbean, Africa and Oceania. Its leaves are highly nutritious and rich in vitamins and minerals, added to clear broth-based soups in Filipino cuisine, used as a garnish, or dried and powdered for soups and smoothies, while its young, slender seed pods, called drumsticks, are prepared as a culinary vegetable across South Asia, typically parboiled and cooked in curries or soups, with a taste reminiscent of asparagus.
