Flake (chocolate bar)

Flake is a British chocolate bar made of thinly folded milk chocolate with a distinctive crumbly texture, manufactured by Cadbury. It was developed in 1920 after Ralph Thompson, a Cadbury employee at the Bournville factory, noticed that thin streams of excess chocolate falling from moulds cooled into flaky ribbons. Cadbury, now owned by Mondelez International, treats its production method as proprietary and today manufactures Flake in Dublin, Ireland and in Egypt rather than at its original Bournville site.
