A halal snack pack is an Australian fast food dish built from halal certified gyro or doner kebab meat, either lamb, chicken, beef or a mix of these, layered over a bed of chips. It is finished with sauces such as chili, garlic and barbecue sauce, with optional additions like yoghurt, cheese, jalapenos or tabbouleh. It has become a standard takeaway order at kebab shops across Australia, and the term itself was voted the Macquarie Dictionary People Choice Word of the Year in 2016.
