It has been introduced to freshwater systems on every continent except Antarctica, where in many places its bottom-feeding habits have made it a significant invasive species, listed among the world's 100 worst invaders. Carp is nonetheless a major food fish: China alone farms more carp by weight than the rest of the world farms trout and salmon combined, and whole fried carp or carp fish soup is a traditional Christmas Eve dish across Central Europe, including Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland and Austria.FactsCarpConnectionsSourcesComments (0)Reader Challenges (0)FactsClassificationAllergenWell-attestedFish 1CarpFilter Results5 entriesDish FamilyAllEuropean Roasted, Grilled and Fried Dishes (1)European Stews, Braises and Sauced Dishes (1)Middle Eastern and North African Roasted, Grilled and Fried Dishes (1)Raw and Cured Fish Dishes (1)Southeast Asian Stews, Braises and Sauced Dishes (1)CuisineAllAustrian Cuisine (1)Chinese Cuisine (1)German Cuisine (2)Hungarian Cuisine (1)Indonesian Cuisine (1)Iraqi Cuisine (1)Polish Cuisine (2)TraditionAllChristmas Feast Traditions (2)Lenten Fasting Foods (1)Passover and Jewish Holiday Foods (1)Format/TypeAllEuropean Roasted, Grilled and Fried Dishes (1)European Stews, Braises and Sauced Dishes (1)Middle Eastern and North African Roasted, Grilled and Fried Dishes (1)Raw and Cured Fish Dishes (1)Southeast Asian Stews, Braises and Sauced Dishes (1)CourseAllAppetizer (1)Main Course (1)Dietary SuitabilityAllContains Fish or Shellfish (3)Contains Meat or Poultry (1)Origin RegionAllAustria (1)Central Europe (1)China (1)Czechia (1)Europe (1)Germany (1)Indonesia (1)Iraq (1)Show ResultsBrowseCompareSelect all 5ArsikCarpChristmas carpCarpGefilte FishCarpKuaiCarpMasgoufCarpConnectionsCarries AllergenFish, Ingredients Well-attested Used ByArsik, Dishes Well-attested Source Arsik (Wikipedia)Christmas carp, Dishes Well-attested Source Christmas carp (Wikipedia)Gefilte Fish, Dishes Well-attested Source Gefilte fish (Wikipedia)Kuai, Dishes Well-attested Source Kuai (dish) (Wikipedia)Masgouf, Dishes Well-attested Source Masgouf (Wikipedia)Sources1.
