It is believed to have originally been grown in Sardinia and was cultivated there by around the 3rd century BC; Linnaeus identified Sardinia as its wild habitat, from where it was brought to England, apparently first cultivated in Britain in 1548, though literary evidence suggests it was used there as early as the Anglo-Saxon period. Parsley is widely used across European, Middle Eastern and American cuisine, with the curly-leaf variety often used as a garnish.FactsParsleyConnectionsIn the Other AtlasesSourcesComments (0)Reader Challenges (0)FactsOrigin RegionWell-attestedGreece, the Balkans, Algeria and Morocco 1ParsleyFilter Results13 entriesDish FamilyAllEuropean Grain and Starch Dishes (1)European Noodles and Dumplings (2)European Roasted, Grilled and Fried Dishes (1)European Stews, Braises and Sauced Dishes (1)Latin American and Caribbean Roasted, Grilled and Fried Dishes (1)Middle Eastern and North African Noodles and Dumplings (1)Middle Eastern and North African Roasted, Grilled and Fried Dishes (1)Middle Eastern and North African Soups (1)Middle Eastern and North African Stews, Braises and Sauced Dishes (1)Middle Eastern Salads (2)North American Breads and Pastries (1)CuisineAllArgentine Cuisine (1)Austrian Cuisine (1)British Cuisine (1)Canadian Cuisine (1)German Cuisine (1)Indian Cuisine (1)Irish Cuisine (1)Israeli Cuisine (1)Italian Cuisine (2)Turkish Cuisine (4)Era (Origin Period)All1400 (1)1600 (1)1790 (1)1870 (1)TraditionAllStreet Food Culture (1)Format/TypeAllEuropean Grain and Starch Dishes (1)European Noodles and Dumplings (2)European Roasted, Grilled and Fried Dishes (1)European Stews, Braises and Sauced Dishes (1)Latin American and Caribbean Roasted, Grilled and Fried Dishes (1)Middle Eastern and North African Noodles and Dumplings (1)Middle Eastern and North African Roasted, Grilled and Fried Dishes (1)Middle Eastern and North African Soups (1)Middle Eastern and North African Stews, Braises and Sauced Dishes (1)Middle Eastern Salads (2)North American Breads and Pastries (1)CourseAllMain Course (1)Soup (1)Dietary SuitabilityAllContains Dairy or Egg (1)Contains Fish or Shellfish (1)Contains Meat or Poultry (2)Origin RegionAllArgentina (1)Austria (1)Canada (1)Czechia (1)Germany (1)Ireland (1)Israel (1)Italy (3)Turkey (4)United Kingdom (1)Show ResultsBrowseCompareSelect all 13Arnavut ciğeriParsleyÇoban salatasıParsleyGarlic fingersParsleyHingelParsleyIrish StewParsleyIsraeli SaladParsleyKarnıyarıkParsleyKedgereeParsleyLeberknödelParsleyMilanesaParsleySpaghetti alle vongoleParsleyStigghiolaParsleyYayla çorbasıParsleyConnectionsUsed ByArnavut ciğeri, Dishes Well-attested Source Arnavut cigeri (Wikipedia)Çoban salatası, Dishes Well-attested Source Çoban salatası (Wikipedia)Garlic fingers, Dishes Well-attested Source Garlic fingers (Wikipedia)Hingel, Dishes Well-attested Source Hingel (Wikipedia)Irish Stew, Dishes Well-attested Source Irish stew (Wikipedia)tier 3Israeli Salad, Dishes Well-attested Source Israeli salad (Wikipedia)Karnıyarık, Dishes Well-attested Source Karnıyarık (Wikipedia)Kedgeree, Dishes Well-attested Source Kedgeree - WikipediaLeberknödel, Dishes Well-attested Source Leberknödel (Wikipedia)Milanesa, Dishes Well-attested Source Milanesa (Wikipedia)tier 3Spaghetti alle vongole, Dishes Well-attested Source Spaghetti alle vongole (Wikipedia)Stigghiola, Dishes Well-attested Source Stigghiola (Wikipedia)Yayla çorbası, Dishes Well-attested Source Yayla çorbası (Wikipedia)In the Other AtlasesOriginated InAlgeriaAlso in Geography Atlas: where this subject originated.Source Wikipedia: ParsleyGreeceAlso in Geography Atlas: where this subject originated.Source Wikipedia: ParsleyMoroccoAlso in Geography Atlas: where this subject originated.Source Wikipedia: ParsleyThe BalkansAlso in Geography Atlas: where this subject originated.Source Wikipedia: ParsleySources1.
