Vatrushka

Breads, Flatbreads and Savory Pastries

Vatrushka is an Eastern European pastry, a ring of dough with a traditional soft white cheese called tvorog in the center, sometimes with added raisins or fruit, usually baked from a sweet yeast dough, though savory versions made with unsweetened dough and onion also exist. It is most commonly about five to ten centimeters across, though larger versions exist, and its exact etymology is uncertain.
