Cappuccino

Coffee and Coffee Drinks

Cappuccino is an Italian coffee drink made from espresso topped with steamed and frothed milk, traditionally prepared with roughly equal parts espresso, steamed milk and milk foam. Its name references the light and dark coloring said to resemble the robes and hoods worn by Capuchin friars. Cappuccino developed in Italy alongside the spread of the espresso machine in the twentieth century and became one of the countrys signature coffee drinks, traditionally consumed only in the morning in Italian custom. It later spread internationally and became a staple of coffeehouse menus worldwide, often prepared with decorative latte art on the foam.
