The barramundi, Lates calcarifer, also called Asian sea bass or giant sea perch, is a species of catadromous fish in the family Latidae. It inhabits the Indo-West Pacific across the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia and Oceania, living as a demersal fish in coastal waters, estuaries, lagoons and rivers typically between 26 and 30 degrees Celsius. It has an elongated, laterally compressed body with a large, slightly oblique mouth, ctenoid scales and a concave dorsal head profile, growing to as much as 1.8 meters and 60 kilograms though such sizes are uncommon, with average lengths of 0.6 to 1.2 meters. Because it does not migrate extensively, it forms genetically distinct populations, including in northern Australia, where it is a well known food and sport fish.

Carries Allergen
Entity-backed identity for the allergen value this ingredient already carries as an enum fact, resolved to a ingredient entity by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The enum fact itself stays on the entity unchanged.
