Camu camu is the fruit of Myrciaria dubia, a small bushy riverside tree of the Amazon rainforest in Peru and Brazil that grows three to five metres tall and bears a red to purple, cherry-like fruit. It is a close relative of the false jaboticaba and the guavaberry, also called rumberry, and as much as two to three percent of the fresh fruit's weight is vitamin C.
