Lentil

Legumes and Legume Products

The lentil is an annual legume grown for its lens-shaped edible seeds, also called lentils, growing about 40 centimeters tall with seeds borne in pods, usually two to a pod. Lentil seeds are used around the world for culinary purposes, most commonly in stews or soups, and in the cuisines of the Indian subcontinent, where lentils are a staple, split lentils with their hulls removed, known as dal, are often cooked into a thick curry usually eaten with rice or roti.
